Purpose: The mandate of GNC is to support identified social, environmental, economical and health benefits of having local produced products available and to promote and connect rural and urban lifestyles throughout the North Cariboo.  We are interested in partnering with other groups and agencies on projects that meet the identified needs of our membership and the community as a whole.
Events / Projects / Activities:  GNC was formed in 2014 and has participated in and supported various events in the North Cariboo such as Seedy Saturday ("Seeds to Savory"), Quesnel Fall Fair, and the Discover Wellness Health Fair.  It is a "sister organisation" to FARMED.  GNC also lead the establishment of the North Cariboo Partners for Healthier Communities (P4HC - NC) committee with the intent to support programs and aid in the development of strategies that support healthy communities with a particular focus on healthy eating, local food security, and physical activity.  The P4HC-NC committee has received funding from Northern Health to implement the "Empowering Family Health" project.  This project is composed of multiple components and involves many community based partners (e.g. Parkland Community Association, Wells and District Community Association, Kersley Farmer's Institute, Bouchie Lake Community Association).  For more information on this project, check out this website in greater detail.

Puprose: is to provide a way for residents on the west side of Quesnel an opportunity to address food insecurity by learning to grow, process and preserve nutritious food for their families. The community also benefits from a composting system where waste will be diverted from the landfill site and converted into rich soil enhancer, making the garden more productive each year. The garden will improve the neighborhood by providing a beautiful place for community members to connect with one another, learn new skills, and to develop plans for new community improvements.
